Indie Gala – Interstellar Bundle
I’m not sure if I’m happy about this bundle or not. Interstellar Marines is a game that I got very excited about when I first heard about it, because it seemed that the developers envisioned the same game I had always envisioned– a hardcore tactical sci-fi shooter. I bought the game when it was on sale last August, and though I didn’t play it much, because there was very little content, I was happy because I could see the game had a lot of potential.
Unfortunately, the game hasn’t really made very much progress since I bought it. There have been some updates, but there hasn’t been much content added. But still, I’ve still held out hope.
And then I saw this bundle, today. I’m usually happy to see really good deals like this on games in bundles. This one has me worried, however. Reading through the forums on Steam and Reddit, it seems that people think anyone that is a bit unhappy to see Interstellar Marines this cheap in a bundle is just upset that they paid more for it. This isn’t the case at all (but of course most people just post without thinking). The reason other people and I are concerned is because, whether or not it is, this seems like a desperate move by developers that might be having money problems. I really hope that isn’t the case.
Regardless, I don’t think this was the right move. Personally, I think the regular edition of the game should have been in the high tier, rather than the $1 tier, and the Spearhead Edition shouldn’t have been included at all. If the developers decided to be part of this bundle in order to get more people playing the game, I think this was a mistake, as well. The fact is, there isn’t enough content right now to keep people playing the game. At this point, if you buy the game, you aren’t getting something you’ll spend hours playing, but you’re supporting a game that has a lot of potential.
I also want to point out that if you beat the average, you’ll actually get three copies of Interstellar Marines; you’ll get one copy from the $1 tier, one copy of the Spearhead edition from the high tier, and when you use the key from the Spearhead Edition, you’ll receive a copy of the regular edition in your Steam inventory.
So definitely check out Interstellar Marines, and grab a copy if it seems like it’s your cup of tea. This game really has a lot of potential, and hopefully the developers can turn it into the great game it can be!
